# User Profile

> Personal name, email, avatar, and password — your individual account settings.

Your User Profile is the small set of personal preferences attached to **your individual account**, separate from anything firm-wide. Open it from the user menu in the top-right of the dashboard, or via **Settings → User Profile**.

## Name and email

* **Display name** — what teammates see on assignments, comments, and the activity feed.
* **Email** — your sign-in address. Changing it sends a verification link to the new address; you must confirm before the change takes effect, and any pending magic-link tokens for the old address are invalidated.
* **Phone** — optional. Only used for SMS notifications if your firm has them enabled.

## Avatar

Click the avatar circle to upload a new image. PNG or JPG, at least 200×200px is recommended. The avatar appears next to your name throughout the app — assignment chips, comments, the user menu, and the activity feed.

If you don't upload one, HoLaCe shows your initials on a colored background.

## Password

You don't need a password to use HoLaCe — magic-link sign-in works without one. But if you'd like to set or change one:

1. Click **Change Password**.
2. Enter your current password (or click "I forgot it" to receive a reset email).
3. Set a new password (minimum 12 characters).
4. Click Save.

A successful password change signs out every other active session for your account.

## Notification preferences

The notifications subsection lets you opt in/out of each notification type — assignment alerts, deadline reminders, document upload pings, and system messages. See the full notification model on the [Notifications](/admin-cross-cutting/notifications) page.

<Note>
Want light or dark mode? That's on the [Theme Preferences](/admin-cross-cutting/settings/theme-preferences) page.
