The Negotiation Log captures the back-and-forth between the carrier and your firm β€” every offer, every counter, every β€œfinal” β€” so the path from the demand letter to settlement is on the record. It’s also the source of the value-added math the firm shows the client at disbursement: how much did we move them off the first offer? Where to find it

The log lives on the Settlement tab, left column. It opens populated as soon as the demand letter is sent and the carrier responds.

Move types

Every entry in the log is a move. The available types match how negotiations actually run:
MoveInitiated byUse when…
DemandFirmThe opening number β€” set automatically from the demand letter.
1st OfferCarrierThe carrier’s first offer back. Anchors the lift calculation.
CounterFirmYour firm’s counter to a carrier offer.
Their OfferCarrierAny later carrier offer after the first.
Final OfferCarrierWhen the carrier signals they’re at the top.
Each move records the amount, the carrier name (when multiple carriers are in play), the date, and a notes field for context β€” the adjuster’s reasoning, who you spoke with, anything you’d want to remember six months later. Round-by-round timeline

The log displays moves in a chronological feed. Each row shows the move type, the amount, the carrier (if more than one), the date, and your notes. From the top of the log:
  • 1st Offer β€” anchors the comparison
  • Last Offer β€” what’s currently on the table
  • Lift % β€” how much the firm has moved the carrier from the first offer
When more than one carrier is involved (UM + liability, e.g.), the carrier filter at the top lets you isolate one carrier’s track or see the combined timeline.

Value-added summary

The Value-Added Summary card sits next to the log and converts the back-and-forth into client-facing math:
  • Opening offer β†’ Final settlement β€” the dollar delta the firm closed
  • Medical bill reductions β€” what was negotiated off provider bills post-settlement
  • Attorney fee reduction (goodwill) β€” any voluntary reduction the firm absorbed
These three add up to the Total value added for client number β€” the headline figure the firm uses when explaining the disbursement to a client. [Screenshot: Value-Added Summary card with the three line items and the highlighted total]
Keep the notes field on each move honest and specific. The Negotiation Log becomes evidence the firm worked the file when a client questions the settlement, and HoLaCe’s COO AI agent can also pull patterns out of it across cases to help with future negotiations.

What’s next

When the carrier and the firm land on a number, log the final move and move to the Settlement Calculator. From there it’s straight to the Disbursement Statement.
